Mattering
We all seek meaning. But I argue that in everyday life, meaning is meaningless. I distinguish meaning from whether something matters. The following will show you the derivation of that philosophy, which is very practical and applicable to situations beyond thought experiments. I will discuss how mattering relates to values and agency and how one can attempt to quantify mattering.
Although this doesn’t make it easy to find things that matter, I still want to share my hypothesis on how to best approach that challenge.
